the habit of scribbling

My random thoughts, ideas, moods, things i saw, work schedule, books that i wanted to buy, anything, everything... are in these notebooks. At some point of time, they were with me everyday, everywhere, till they’re filled. Even though most of it was just silly thoughts, i still love going through over and over again.

And once upon a time, i wrote in Chinese.

messy but still pretty

My vintage Sindy’s hair is getting messier by the day because my niece loves to torture her.

Can’t decide whether to use ‘large’ or ‘medium’ size photos for the blog, what do you think?

usual hangout

i was distraught by the sudden popularity of my usual hangout. It had been my chill out cafe for more than a year till last night – the crowd was overwhelming, unbelievably packed and noisy. It looked more like a market place except that everyone was dressed up. i guess no more hanging out there for a while... maybe only during off peak hours. New hideout suggestions, anyone?

Recession? Well, definitely not here.

Berry Berry Opera & The BBC. i love The BCC (brownie, banana, cheese), it’s a must-have dessert. Yum!

Ice cold Ginger Mule

Maybe my friend was right, everyone was out celebrating the arrest of Mas Selamat last night; hence, the crowd. Ha!

if there’re seasons

i’ve always had qualms watching chinese musical or play because of the language. Not that i do not understand or dislike the language, but for some reason, some things when expressed in mandarin just doesn’t feel right. i love you or i miss you are the most natural things to say when in English, but when expressed in mandarin, it makes one feel uncomfortable, i can’t explain why.

Nonetheless, i watched my first chinese musical, If There’re Seasons, on Saturday and it’s great! So go watch it if you haven’t.

The name of the musical 天冷就回来 literally translates to Come back home when the weather turns chilly, there is a sense of beautiful sadness and warmth in it. However, the current English title If There’re Seasons just doesn’t have the same impact.

wind fall

i was on my way home from the airport that night and couldn’t believe my luck. i am a very inexperienced driver and that was probably my third time driving at night. Just my luck to be caught in the windstorm and heavy downpour. i could barely see the road ahead and there was nothing i could do but to risk exiting the highway – i couldn’t tell how far away the car behind me was. So glad i managed to reach home in one piece.

And Alex, if  you’re reading this, don’t say i was just being ‘kua zhang’, here’s the proof!

“Singapore was hit by the Sumatra Squall between 11pm and midnight – bringing parts of the island to a standstill. The fierce gusts resulted in over 30 fallen trees, 150 damaged trees, a dozen damaged cars, 400 calls to the police and a toppled construction crane.” – I-S Magazine

pollock-inspired

i woke up this morning and found this pollock-inspired great ‘gift’ on the window.

orange alert

Maybe it’s only at a few places, but today at the museum and Dome cafe, we had to write down our particulars and measured temperature before we were allowed to enter. The H1N1 virus (swine flu) reminds me of Sars outbreak in 2003 – temperature measuring, thermometer, surgical mask, glove, quarantine...

Green sticker means my temperature is normal :-)

Ahhh... sandwiches love

My liking for mocha seems to have changed. This was the second time i ordered latte this week, something that i’ve not had for years.
